Soulmate portrait quiz: what it is, what it costs, and who should skip it.

The short version

A free eight-question quiz plus your birth details produces an illustrated portrait and a written reading of a hypothetical partner's temperament. The quiz costs nothing. Unlocking the result opens a monthly membership — $19.90 for the first month, then $39.80 a month, cancellable at any time. It is entertainment, it does not predict anything, and if you buy it expecting a prediction you will be disappointed. Bought as a curiosity — an image and a description to sit with — it does what it says.

What you're actually buying

Two things arrive together. The first is the portrait: an illustration in a pencil-drawing style, generated from your inputs. The second, and in our view the more substantial half, is the written reading — several pages describing a temperament, how that person handles conflict and closeness, the circumstances the reading associates with meeting them, and how all of it reads against your own chart.

People arrive for the picture and stay for the text. That's a consistent pattern in this category and it's worth knowing before you set your expectations. The image is the hook; the writing is the product.

How the quiz works

You enter your birth date, place, and time if you know it. Time matters more than people expect, because it's what fixes the rising sign — the marker most associated with attraction rather than personality. Without a birth time the reading leans on sun and moon and says so, which we appreciate; a lot of offers in this space quietly guess.

Then eight questions, all about you: what you notice first in someone, what you can't tolerate, what makes you feel safe, how you act when something matters. No right answers and no personality label at the end. Their function is to narrow a broad astrological type down to something specific enough to render as one face.

The whole thing takes about three minutes and runs on this site rather than the seller's. You reach a summary of everything you answered, and from there one button takes you to the seller's checkout with your answers attached. That's where money is mentioned, and it's where most people decide. Closing the tab at that point costs nothing.

Price and what happens at checkout

This is the part most reviews of this offer get wrong, so read it carefully: it's a subscription, not a one-off purchase. Unlocking your portrait opens a monthly membership — $19.90 for the first month, then $39.80 a month for as long as you keep it. Both figures are on the checkout page before you pay.

You can cancel from your account with the payment processor at any point, including immediately after your portrait is delivered, and the portrait stays yours. Plenty of people will do exactly that, and there's nothing underhanded about it — but you have to actually do it. A subscription you forget about is the single most common complaint in this category, and it's the reason we put the renewal price on our home page rather than leaving you to find it at checkout.

There is an upsell sequence after you pay. Expect to be offered a longer or deeper reading and a faster delivery option. You can decline all of them and you'll still receive the portrait and reading you paid for — nothing you decline gets added silently. We think being told this in advance is worth more than being surprised by it, even though telling you costs us upsell commission.

Delivery

Digital, as a file you download and keep. Nothing arrives in the post and there's no account to log back into. The delivery window is stated on the offer page at the moment you buy, and we're deliberately not quoting a number here: it's the detail most likely to change on the seller's side, and a stale promise on this page would be worse than no promise at all.

Refunds

The refund window and conditions are set by the seller and displayed on the checkout page. Read them there — that wording is the one that governs your purchase, not anything on this site. Refunds are processed by the seller's payment platform, not by us; we have no access to orders and can't intervene. If you want a refund, start from the support link in your purchase confirmation email.

Who this is for

  • People who already enjoy astrology enough to have looked up someone's chart before an argument.
  • People who want a prompt for thinking about what they actually want in a partner, rather than a verdict about what will happen.
  • People who like having the object — an image and a description they can come back to in six months.
  • People comfortable paying for something whose only job is to be interesting.

Who should skip it

We'd rather lose the sale than have you buy this and feel taken. Skip it if:

  • You want to know when you'll meet someone. Nothing here answers that. Any offer claiming it does is lying to you, and this one doesn't claim it.
  • You're going through something heavy. If you're lonely in a way that's become hard to carry, an entertainment product is not the right tool and may make it worse. That's a genuine caution, not a disclaimer.
  • You expect a likeness of a real, identifiable person. It's an interpretation. There is no database of real people behind it.
  • You'd feel cheated paying for something unverifiable. That instinct is reasonable. Trust it and keep your money.
  • You know you won't remember to cancel. Be honest with yourself here. This renews monthly, and a forgotten renewal costs more than the thing you bought.

What we'd change

Four things, in order of how much they bother us.

The membership model doesn't fit the product. This is our biggest criticism. A portrait and a reading are a finished thing — you get them once and you're done. Billing for them monthly means most buyers are paying for a second month they get nothing new from, unless they remember to cancel. A single payment would suit what's actually being sold, and would spare the seller a lot of chargebacks.

The upsell sequence is longer than it needs to be. After you pay, you're walked through several optional offers before reaching your download. Each one is declinable and none of them are deceptive, but it's a tiring end to a purchase that was pleasant up to that point. A single combined offer would cost the seller less goodwill.

Delivery timing is stated less prominently than price. Price is clear and repeated; the delivery window is stated once. For a gift purchase — and a fair number of these are gifts — that's the more important number, and it should be as loud as the price.

There's no sample of the written reading anywhere public. Since the writing is the better half of the product, not being able to see a paragraph of it before buying is a real gap. A redacted sample would convert better and would be fairer.

How it compares to the alternatives

1. Commissioning a human artist directly

You can hire an illustrator on a freelance marketplace to draw a portrait from a written brief. You'll typically pay several times more and wait days rather than minutes, and you have to write the brief yourself — which means you're supplying the description rather than receiving one. Better if you already know exactly what you want drawn and care about craft. Worse if the description is the thing you were hoping to be given.

2. Doing it yourself with an AI image tool

A general-purpose image generator will produce a face from a prompt for free or near-free. What it won't produce is the structured reading, and it won't make the result feel like it came from anywhere but your own typing. If the appeal for you is purely the picture, this is genuinely the cheaper route and we'd rather say so. If the appeal is being told something, it isn't a substitute.

3. A full natal chart reading from an astrologer

A working astrologer will read your whole chart, usually live, usually for considerably more money, and will cover far more ground than attraction and compatibility. It's the more serious purchase and the better one if astrology is something you actually practise rather than enjoy. It also won't give you an image, which for many buyers of this offer is the entire point.

Verdict

Judged as what it is — a three-minute entertainment product that ends in an image and a few pages of writing — it's competently made, and the price and the billing terms are both stated at the point of sale. The optional extras are genuinely optional. The subscription is the wrong shape for the product and is the thing most likely to annoy you; the missing sample of the reading is the weakest part of the pitch.

If you buy it, put a reminder in your phone for three weeks' time to decide whether you want a second month. That one step turns this from a purchase people regret into a purchase people are happy with.

Judged as a prediction, it fails, as would anything else in this category. It doesn't ask to be judged that way, and neither do we.

If that sounds like what you're after, the quiz is free to take.
